When warm summer weather hits it’s a great thing in the beginning, since you’d been begging for it all winter. However, it quickly can get stifling when temps rise, and it helps to know how to stay cooler inside your home. (more…)

Store-bought popcorn – whether pre-made or in its own cooking sachet – is pretty expensive compared to the rock-bottom price of the actual corn itself. All you’re really paying extra for is the fancy packaging and the dubious, invariably unhealthy added ingredients, but the only other option is to cook it in a pan, right?

If you’re fortunate enough to have the budget and opportunity to climb further up the property market and begin your career as a landlord, there are so many things to consider beyond the management and upkeep of your income property, dealing with tenants (if you’re going to rent it out), or fixing it up and upgrading it (if your plan is perhaps to flip it). While those are definitely some major considerations with regards to any secondary property, particularly one which you’ve earmarked to operate as a rental property, in order for it to work when it comes down to the actual process of putting tenants in, what ultimately matters is how the property is presented. Not all women decide to be stay-at-home moms. There is nothing wrong with staying home and raising your kids, but there is also nothing wrong with heading back out into the world of full-time (or part-time) work after you’ve had children. While there is nothing wrong with it, it can sometimes be hard to do. (more…)

Especially now the summer holidays are upon us (a teacher’s dream, a parent’s nightmare – I’m so torn!), it can be difficult entertaining your kids (their cousins, your neighbours’ kids and friends’ kids, plus whoever else you’re in a babysitting rota with!), and it never hurts to have a bit of inspiration.
I’ve known of the existence of Gulliver’s World since I was a kid as I’m from Warrington. I actually worked there as well – the job being kind of a rite of passage for any teens living in the Old Hall vicinity. But I know plenty of people around the North Wales area who have never heard of it, and so it’s not on their radar as a place to take the kids this summer.
Which kind of means you’re missing out!

Before recently it was so hard to travel with kids, and enjoy yourself too. Traveling Europe can be a hassle because you find yourself dragging the kids from location to location. However, websites like Travelodge makes taking the kids along so enjoyable for you and them! There are so many offers that allow the kids to eat and stay for free and there are so many activities that you’ll have just as much fun doing as them!

When we are trying to help our kids learn something new, it is always a struggle to make it memorable. Helping kids with school work can be tedious and boring. It’s so easy to forget children need to go at a slower and more detailed pace than we need to. When we have to learn the topic too, it can make things easier, because we can think about how we are going to remember the information later on. Try having a themed day to help the memory. (more…)

If you take a trip to the USA and walk through Beverly Hills, everyone has ‘perfect’ lawns. That beautiful Bermuda grass is so fine and lusciously green; you can’t help but wonder if secretly it’s just one big roll of finely-woven carpet. (more…)
